LA ESPERANZA

Ministering to underprivileged children and their families.
Esmeraldas:

The work in the Province of Esmeraldas started in January of 2016. Rocio Castillio, earned her degree in Child Psychology while working with us on medical outreaches and in our hospital. She has a heart for children and felt called to minister in her home province of Esmeraldas. She is currently working with us in rural areas where there is no electricity or running water. The children there are undernourished, and have no formal education.

The work Rocio is doing is truly inspiring and amazing! She demonstrates the love of Jesus, serving, teaching and caring for the children and families in this extremely needy region.

Our Compassion International programs:

In the Province of El Oro, we are working with 2,000 kids in conjunction with Compassion International (C.I.). Our programs have been recognized by C.I. as the best in the country and our pastors are giving guidance to churches throughout the country on how to effectively and successfully run these programs and minister to children. We have been chosen to start the first C.I. project in the country working with underprivileged expectant mothers.

Assistance to the children of the recyclers:

We provide after school care for the children of the recyclers. We help them with their homework; provide them with Bible studies, school supplies and a warm nutritious meal. In addition they receive school scholarships and follow-up visits to their schools and homes. Their mothers lack secure, formal occupations and see scavenging in the garbage as the only means of providing for their families. They are mostly single moms, with absent or dysfunctional husbands and they live well below the poverty level.

We are working in conjunction with the Alianza en Desarrollo to help keep these children in school and off the streets where they face both health and safety issues. Currently there are 120 children ranging in age from kindergarten to high school enrolled in the program. Once a month we are opening our church classrooms for the recyclers for training sessions, personal ministry, Bible study and a snack.
